Partner News: WavEC Seminar 2023

The WavEC Seminar 2023 entitled “Paving the Way for Large Scale Offshore Wind Deployment” will take place on December 6 in Lisbon, Portugal. The seminar, organised in partnership with the Netherlands Embassy in Lisbon, provides an excellent opportunity to explore the latest developments in the offshore wind sector.

Portugal is preparing to launch a call for ‘demonstrations of interest’ for parties wanting to build offshore wind farms off its Atlantic coast, reaching up to 3.5 GW of total capacity. This corresponds to the first step in Portugal’s ambitious target to reach 10 GW of installed capacity through a total investment of 30-40 billion euros ($33-44 billion) by 2030. This year’s guest country – the Netherlands – shares the ambitious offshore wind agenda, as it already has 4.5 GW of offshore wind capacity installed and a target of 21 GW by 2030.

The event will feature a diverse range of sessions designed to address key aspects of the offshore wind sector, including offshore wind policy, industry perspectives, port infrastructure development, risk mitigation, and the sustainable utilisation of marine resources.
