PhD thesis defense

Last month, SCARLET’s Luhan Zu successfully defended his PhD thesis at the Université Paris Sciences et Lettres (PSL). The thesis is entitled “Characterisation of electrical insulations impregnated by cryogenic fluids, particularly liquid hydrogen, for electricity transport using superconducting cables” and was supervised by Prof. Stéphane Holé from Sorbonne University.

Both Luhan and Stéphane are very actively involved in SCARLET’s WP4 and focus on the behaviour and reliability of high-voltage insulation immersed in cryogenic fluids. Their recent results on liquid hydrogen represent an important step towards combined liquid-hydrogen and superconducting power systems.

The SCARLET family is warmly congratulating Luhan for this professional milestone and wishes him the best for his future!
